Letting to tenants, students or lodgers? You’re legally required to arrange regular gas safety inspections on every gas appliance in and around the property. As Gas Safe–registered engineers, we recommend you book these checks even if you’re not renting—gas is powerful and unpredictable, so a little extra caution keeps everyone safe.
AND MANY MORE
Poole Plumbing & Heating is fully certified to support homes and businesses throughout Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch and the wider Dorset area. We specialise in high-quality gas appliance installs, repairs and scheduled maintenance.
Our priority is keeping every user of your gas appliances safe. Whether you need a standalone safety inspection or you’re fitting a new appliance to meet local regulations, contact Poole Plumbing & Heating today.

If you let your property and it contains gas appliances, the law requires you to stay on top of a few key tasks: routine servicing, annual gas safety checks and proper record keeping. Local regulations spell these out clearly—ignore them and you could be liable.
Beyond regular servicing, you must arrange yearly gas safety inspections. We follow the rules to the letter, examining every part of your heating system—pipework, fittings and components—to confirm everything’s safe and compliant.
A Gas Safe registered engineer must carry out scheduled maintenance to make sure flues, appliances and pipework remain safe. Manufacturers—and local legislation—set the service intervals. Use our maintenance plan and we’ll service your gas appliances annually (or more often if their age or condition demands it).
After every service or safety check, you have 28 days to give your tenants their gas safety certificate—and new tenants must receive it before they move in. Keep each certificate on file for 24 months after the inspection. If a tenant installs a gas appliance themselves, you’re not responsible for that unit’s check, but you must still ensure the rest of the system—such as pipework—is inspected. Finally, make sure tenants know how to turn off the gas supply in an emergency. When you need help staying compliant, contact Poole Plumbing & Heating—our Gas Safe–certified team is ready to advise and carry out the checks you need.
